St Peters Quarter based funeral directors, Wathall’s, have launched a new community support pledge with the presentation a giant cheque to Derby charity Safe and Sound.
Wathall’s Wish will support a different charity every month over the coming year either with money, volunteering or donations of goods and services. The common theme is that all these charities provide support for people at difficult times in their lives.
The first recipient of a Wathall’s Wish has been Safe and Sound which supports children and young people across the county who are, or are at risk of becoming, victims of exploitation, including child sexual exploitation.
Wathall’s collected a record £1,337 in donations from those who attended their annual Service of Remembrance and Hope at Derby Cathedral in the run up to Christmas to remember loved ones who have passed away.
With gift aid, the among the charity has received is around £1,500 and Wathall’s are also supporting Safe and Sound’s race night fundraiser on February 7 with a further pledge to provide volunteer support in the coming months.
